Urgent Care Q&A

What is urgent care?

Urgent care provides prompt evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of conditions, including serious but non-life-threatening illnesses, accidents and injuries. Seeking care in a timely manner can help reduce the risk of complications and support a faster recovery.

At Kelly’s Family Healthcare, patients have access to immediate, high-quality care when it matters most.

What conditions can benefit from urgent care?

Kelly’s Family Healthcare uses urgent care to treat a wide range of conditions, including:

  • COVID-19
  • Flu
  • Sore throat
  • STIs (STDs)
  • Common cold
  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
  • Sinusitis
  • Bronchitis
  • Cough
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Tick bite/Lyme

You may also benefit from urgent care services if diagnostic imaging or laboratory testing is needed.

Is urgent care the same as the emergency room?

Urgent care is not the same as an emergency room. Emergency departments are equipped to treat potentially life-threatening conditions, such as chest pain, heart attacks, strokes, and loss of consciousness. If you experience any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately.

Urgent care, on the other hand, provides prompt treatment for non-life-threatening conditions. At Kelly’s Family Healthcare, patients can receive timely care for a variety of concerns, with services available during both weekdays and weekends.

What happens during an urgent care visit?

Kelly’s Family Healthcare offers convenient urgent care services via telehealth. Services are available in both English and Spanish to ensure all patients receive clear communication and comprehensive care.

During your visit, Luz M. Kelly, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, will review your medical history and conduct a thorough evaluation of your symptoms. This includes discussing factors that may improve or worsen your condition, as well as how your symptoms have responded to any at-home treatments.

Following the evaluation, an accurate diagnosis will be made, and an individualized treatment plan will be recommended to support your recovery.

What should I bring to an urgent care appointment?

To help ensure an efficient and effective visit, please have the following information available:

  • Health insurance information
  • A list of current prescription medications and vitamins
  • Results from any recent medical tests
  • Names and contact info of any specialists you have recently seen
  • A list of questions or concerns you would like to address

If you or a loved one requires urgent care services, please contact Kelly’s Family Healthcare or schedule an appointment online today.
